bio.

Ryan A. Randall is a cinematographer, and educator who graduated from the Ontario College of Art & Design in 2002 with a major in Integrated Media.

An Associate of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for the past decade, he actively shoots commercials, documentaries, shorts, and media arts projects. Ryan is also engaged in higher education and preservation. Currently at Queen’s University, in the Department of Film & Media where he is the Senior Technician and Technical Director of the Vulnerable Media Lab, as well as an Adjunct Lecturer. 

Works lensed have shown at Toronto International Film Festival, Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM), Sebastopol, Vancouver International Film Festival, Images Film Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, and DOXA Documentary Festival, amongst others. 


Ryan’s recent work on Workhorse (Caines, 2020) was awarded the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards: Best Cinematography in a Feature Length Documentary and was nominated for the 2020 Canadian Society of Cinematographer Awards: Robert Brooks Award for Documentary Long Format Cinematography.
